Preparation
Stripping down
Overhaul of sashes
- Ensure the area is well protected with dust sheets
- This stage of the process is carried out as carefully as possible. In many cases, the window will have been sealed up by several layers of old paint. Care taken at this stage minimizes damage to the paintwork.
- Removal of the staff bead
- Removal of the bottom sash
- Removal of the parting bead
- Removal of the upper sash
- Repair any loose putty
- Repair any loose joints with two-part epoxy
- Replace any damaged glass
- Plane sashes if required to fit accurately
- Rout groove in meeting rail, and top rail of top sash, and fit weather stripping
- Paint any exposed timber with white primer

Clean Up
- Replace pulleys if required
- Replace cords
- Clean up boxes
- Repair any minor decayed timber with two-part epoxy
- Replace any major decayed areas with new timber
- Paint any exposed timber with white primer
- Install top sash, ensure weights are correctly balanced
- Install new parting beads with weather stripping fitted into routed grooves
- Install bottom sash, ensure weights are correctly balanced
- Install new staff beads with weather stripping fitted into routed grooves
- Install hardware such as catches, locks etc
- Clean windows inside and out
- Remove all debris and old materials
- Vacuum room
